Oh, I completely understand that, and even the month waiting for the specialist appointment was not a big deal. The part that I was griping about was the way the primary care doc gave me the news. If he had just spent 2-3 minutes giving me a little background, I wouldn't have been nearly so worried. This was long before the internet, so my information options were slim.

Yeah, because looking at symptoms and conditions on the internet is so reassuring.

After much consideration and review of options, pulled the trigger on my 401k rollover to a traditional IRA. Ex-employer recently sold and the 401k is apparently being morphed into new owners plan, I was not comfortable with lack of information being made available to me as a retiree, so I initiated a pre-emptive strike. Took a deep breath after realizing that is the single largest monetary value personal transaction I've ever made.

CHased salt info on interweb. Went figure skating, 2hrs, had the rink to myself with perfectly smooth ice. Enriched $tarbuck$ by buying coffee and an oatmel cookie.
So far so good.

Went to another former co-w*rkers going away luncheon. They're starting to average one a month.
Very happy for this guy and his DW.

"My" Lincoln did look dejected. Your Lincoln sounds much more realistic. And should have been, given your venue. Mine was like the old Elvis - gained a lot of weight and didn't resemble the man we thought he was.

So, I had to go look for that photo, and found "my" Lincoln.
The following was taken on July 4th of 2011, without flash, and zoomed in from the back row, so was of poor quality. He was not as tall as the real Lincoln though. At 6'4", it is hard to find a double with the same physique.

Nah, Lincoln was not that skinny. A Web site gave his weight as 180. I believe that more, and even that weight is low as Lincoln was a good wrestler, and reputed to have amazing strength.

Wow I never would have guessed his weight at 180. I believe the strength - probably from all that rail splitting.

We've been in boulder co for a few days now and went running this morning. Some observations:
(1) Holy crap the weather is nice here. Even by california standards. Locals have told me the weather unusually nice right now.
(2) The thinner air is killer. I knew that but it's still humbling to be huffing/puffing at half your usual speed.
(3) This place is a hiking mecca. Literally 5 minute to any one of dozens of trails and they almost all allow dogs.

Why did you tell me this? DW and I are going to that area to look at houses. Maybe that's the area for us?
Yes the altitude bothered us, I'm hoping more time in the area helps. Two weeks this time vs. a 5 day trip last time.
Actually thanks much for the information. Good to know we're not the only ones that like it there.

Played chimney sweep. Stove and chimney ready for winter.
Yesterday had an electrician install a proper manual generator transfer switch. Taped his business card and paid bill inside the transfer switch. I will have no further need for the suicide cord. Which was duly decomissioned. Should keep the code enforcers and insurance company happy.
Ready for winter.

Went to see "This Is Where I Leave You." Charming cast, well acted, predictable plot. Say what one will about Jane Fonda, she must have the absolutely best cosmetic surgeons in the world--DH and I both turned to each other at the end and said first off, holy cow, that woman looks incredible without being over the top.

8:30 to 11:30 Watched the Lions and Falcons play football in London
11:30 to 12:15 Cut some of the grass in the front yard
12:15 to 5:30 Watched several different footballs games and the NASCAR race
5:30 to 6:00 Finished cutting the grass in the front and then started the back yard (didn't get finish)
6:00 to ? Will be watching more football and the World Series for the rest of the night.
Rough day.
I might finish cutting the grass tomorrow, if I'm not to tired.

MIL wanted me to cover her in-wall AC unit for the winter. We cover it on the inside every year to prevent cold air from blowing in. I usually wrap and tape clear plastic to it. Looked terrible. I had some cherry laying around, so I built a better looking cover, with weatherstripping against the wall. Should seal it ok.

That looks so classy, Ronstar. You could probably start a business making those! Oh, wait, this isn't the early-start a business site.

Thanks Bestwifeever - you're right- this isn't the early-start a business site. Only doing it for the fun of it.
