I followed that kid in the runaway balloon story from CO all afternoon on TV. Glad he finally popped up in the box in the garage. Sounds like a good made-for-TV movie to me. Do you suppose that the script is already written?

I sleep all day every day. Unfortunetly I have to w*rk all night to be able to sleep all day. Today I was up "early" at noon so I could get groceries before the rain came. I look forward to when I can sleep all day without having to w*rk all night.

Today I ordered a pizza. For the first time in a least 10 years. Ordered it on line. Delivered within emailed time frame. Donato's medium: pepperoni mushroom sausage. Just under $15. Gave the delivery guy $5 cash. Stole his pen.

I realized I had his pen and went back to the door (he was still in the driveway) he said "don't worry about it", and drove away.

I will also have to add Galicia to the list of places I need to visit some days. I will need an RV in Europe to make the travel affordable, given so many places I like to go to.
I knew of Asturias, an adjacent province to Galicia, simply from the composition by Isaac Albéniz that was given the same name. The well-known John Williams guitarist performed in the following youtube video.
PS. As many others, I love the 2nd movement of the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo. Sadly, the one time I was in Madrid a few years ago, my schedule did not permit me to go to Aranjuez, though we were able to go to Monserrat as a day trip from Barcelona. So many places, so little time, or was it so little money now that I have time?

Today was DW's birthday, so we rode into town and went to a sushi restaurant. I got her a bike jersey, so this picture is entitled "Wife in New Jersey:" ha ha.
And we both "rode our ages," which seemed quite difficult this year.

Having gone to my dentist office for a deep cleaning session this afternoon, and with the right half of my mouth being still numb, I remember your post and have to make a response.
No art connoisseur here, so mention Goya to me and all I can think of are his paintings of the "Nude" and "Clothed Maja". I think he was the same Goya that did your beloved fresco. I just looked up online to find out that the fresco is in a church in Madrid. I am not sure if I would make an effort to go see it when we were there if I knew. However, we did see the Maja's and many more at the Prado Museum. Which of the Majas would make a pleasing subject for our dental patient?
And speaking of paintings in Prado and interesting things for a dentist to put on his ceiling, may I suggest "The Garden of Earthly Delights" by Bosch? I spent the most time studying this 500-yr old painting, and in fact got my nose so close to it that the museum room attendant was alarmed. There are so many details, characters, and activities in this painting to keep a dentist's patient occupied for a LONG time. He may even beg to stay a bit longer to study it some more.
OK, OK, that's too much of a stretch. The patient may be too scared of the damnation and punishment scenes in Hell that remind him of his predicament at the dentist's hands.
Apologies to dentists among us.

Chaperone duty: our bunny Peter had a surprise playdate visit from Chloe, the white lop up the street.
He's been a solitary bunny most of his life and he's not well socialized to other bunnies, but one female in a 15'x25' room was apparently not too much pressure for him to handle.
We might do this again someday with Chloe's roomate "Thumper", another female.

Ahhh...Nords, I always love seeing a pic of your bunny.
What I did today. Hmmm, roused myself out of bed around 9:30. Later went to flooring/appliance store and put down my deposit on new flooring. Ate lunch, then started painting the patio. It's been raining so much I thought it might be Christmas before I got the outside of the house done. But, now I could be done in a couple of days.
Since we're having new flooring put down in five areas, we decided to save some money by tearing up the old carpet and stuff. Then we'll have to juggle the furniture around. I think I need to go back to w*rk. Retirement is wearing me out.

Regarding tearing the old carpet and pad out the job will be less nasty if you do something like this: pick a corner of a room, grab carpet with pliers and pull back from corner, lifting it off the tack strips. Go to the nearest corner and pull back there as well, till you have about a 5' flop of carpet folded over on itself. Measure your dumpster to see what the length should be - you will be putting rolls of carpet in and want to maximize the room. Using a razor knife or box cutter, slash the carpet into a 5' strip from the backing side. Roll strip up and start a stack. Continue till all carpet is removed. Then pull up the pad - note that it is in stapled down 5' strips - a flat bladed shovel used at the seams will be your friend. Dusty dirty job. No reason to pull tackstrip that is sound, metal edging will be replaced.

My next big home projects are stalled out until January at the request of DW. She doesn't want my controlled chaos around for the holidays...
I found myself looking at some real estate web sites last night, scoping out vacation homes. There's some cheap stuff out there. I've gotten some feedback in the past that I'm 'too old' to go have a vacation home, now that the kids are grown. Heck, I'm not quite 56, so I have a few good years left!
Hey, this might be another good Life after FIRE thread.

Thank you so much calmloki!
I've torn up a lot of old carpet, but have not tried it this way. I'll give it a whirl. The carpet is on a concrete slab, so there should not be staples in the floor.
Yuck...then there's all that dust and stuff underneath the pad. What a dirty job! Hmmm, I wonder if Mike Rowe would be willing to help me out...

Are you sure you need to replace the pad? Carpet companies have a lot gain in convincing you to do this. I had one rep say "You wouldn't change your suit without changing your underwear, would you?" but that's baloney.
You might need or want to, but when our carpet was replaced, we figured we'd need a new pad, but the installer said "Well, this old pad is fine -- no reason to remove it."
