Writing and photographing (after getting a bit of web instruction from my partner on how to upload them) is something I might be able to offer. The website of one of our local shelters says they have had to stop featuring the individual animals. It doesn't say why, but maybe they could use some help.
I would like a role with some animal contact. Thanks, BTravlin, for telling me about the dogs. I would love bringing them some happiness (while making sure I don't bring them home, as I'll be a low-budget retiree).

The best things in life require free time.

I have been volunteering at a local animal shelter for 12 years. I now have more time to devote to this venture. You can select from a variety of duties to fit what you want to do. I stick with kennel cleaning because the kitties really appreciate it. Some of the work is physically demanding (kennel cleaning, dog walking) some not so much (greeting at the front desk, humane education in the community). Yes, I have a couple of cats that came through the shelter. Check out all of the opportunities. If you love animals you will find something that fits.
