I've only been RE'd a few months and am absolutely loving it, and I can still remember those last few weeks and months at work - sweet memories

Time for me to join the class! I've been reading threads on this sight for a while before joining in 2009. I will be retiring next month as a FERS employee. I say that with great hope! My paperwork has been in since February as of this posting nothing from HR or OPM! I've talked with them several times and the paperwork has been sent to our HQ but still nothing! So, I believe I am retireing!
One good point, my seperation orders were processed so my HHG will be shipped next week. DW retired 2 years ago. After 37 years of working in my profession it will seem strange not to work! So, I have been mentally preparing myself for 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday per week. Please add my name to the Class of 2010!

Congratulations to all of you. I'm approaching my 2-year anniversary of RE. It's been great. Why? Because my DW and I have made it great. It is what you make it. (We have had some challenges, the greatest of which was the death, during childbirth, of a daughter, but we have loved almost everything else about retirement.)

It would also interest me, since this IS the ER Forum, to record next to each name the age of the person at the time of his/her retirement this year. I added mine.

I'm game, but I quite understand if others don't want to reveal their age.

You have such a positive attitude. I wish you and your wife many more great years of retirement. I am so very sorry to hear about your daughter's death.

Well you can add me to the list as well. I'll be 62 on July 17th. My final official day of employment is July 15th, but by using vacation time, I am done working as of June 17th. It comes down to 14 more working days (but who's counting?)!

We recently purchased our 2-bedroom condo in Prescott, AZ in the beginning of April, getting a fantastic bargain in a depressed housing market. We couldn't be happier. Our home here in central MA went up for sale about 3 weeks ago and we landed a solid offer in 5 days! Closing papers will be signed on June 24th and we will be packed and headed off for the 4-5 day drive across the country.

FIRE away!
