An update to the story...I had to push my HR manager but they finally let me out of the industrial business I'm currently in and I got an offer with our financial services business in Dallas. Same employer, different industry, and hopefully a better working environment. I think there are better advancement opportunities there, and this'll also help diversify my resume. As cities go I much prefer Dallas to Houston, and I'll be closer to my girlfriend as well, so it's an all around good deal. The new manager also seemed receptive to supporting a part-time MBA next year.
