Also hit my significant milestone today!

Age 32 (33 this year) and wife (29 and then 30 this year)

400k in cash investments [401k(s) + Roth IRA(s) + taxable account]

500k if I include a small plot of land which was before I knew anything about investment and investing.

My wife and I max out our 401k(s) and ROTH IRA(s) and then save from our combined income to invest in the taxable.

I used to love my job but am looking forward to when I don't also 'need' to work but only 'want' to work.

We just had our first baby 2 weeks ago so that has added an interesting wrinkle in the plan to retire early.

I want to hit 500k in cash investments for this year. Grow to +1 mill in 4 years and then retire in less than 10.

Its an aggressive goal but I am excited about it.

Wishing all here the best!

Well done! A double in 4 years is an aggressive goal, but, given your progress to date, I would assume additional contributions will make up a fair chunk of the additional $500k. Keep it up and you'll be there before you know it.

Great progress! Once you get half a mil. - the second half is much easier as long as the market cooperates....
Congrats on the savings AND the child!

Thank you! She is understandably a little more preoccupied with the little one but she is happy that we are doing well. She is just very modest [a HUGE part of the reason that we are saving so much] and does not like talking about it a lot.

Congratulations on your significant milestone and the investment progress too. Both are great! Good fresh whole foods will help keep the baby healthy and doctor bills down.

Cheers!

Wow, a bunch of superstars around here today! Money issues are a big stress in marriages, and with a little one stressing you out you don't need that. Congrats on the huge accomplishment when most people your age still have student debts!

Thank you. I had over 100k debt when I declared myself done from schooling. Whittling that down took some time and effort and today I am 100% debt free.

As an ex baby doctor, I am delighted to hear that. Your baby will thank you some day!

Thank you all for your kind words. I am simply the spectator and handler of other things while my wife does the heavy work here. Today was the first weekend handling the little one all by ourselves and so far so good!

A small update. With a bonus and other small savings, we are up to 445k in our investment portfolio. I do not know if I will make it to 500 by the end of the year but it is one step closer.

Same here! Made 450k this year due to a bonus and saving.

Definitely won't hit 500k this year because I'm only 50% invested in stocks.
