Perhaps that's the purpose of having a little bit of "mad money" to satisfy the urge to spend money on others (e.g., altruistic tendencies). In most cases, however, people who have "mad money" usually spend it on themselves.

Re: Average Joe can retire rich
DW has her own checkbook and credit card. All our accounts are joint. If she wants some spending money she hit the ATM. I don't track her cash...only her checks so we don't bounce. She is pretty good about asking before she writes any checks over $200. Other than that, I could care less if she stashes some cash away for herself.
Spending on big stuff is a shared decision; personal spending is not. I know roughly what she spends on gum, potato chips, workday lunches and gas for the car but as long as we both keep to the rough budget we are fine.

Me too ().*
Especially after I read in the Seattle Times about the poor soul out in Enumclaw Washington who had his final sexual experience with a stallion. His friends and family expressed surprise.

Please, for the love of your sanity, do not google that term. It is not something that should ever be seen.

Too true, but I'm not the one who brought up the laundry list of objectionable "adult" material.

Wow. Is that true? Do you think someone can produce a mathematical derivation that proves this really happens?

Probably, but it's gonna have fractals, PDEs, and long-tailed PDFs so it can be published.

On this board?* No.* We're still too busy trying to derive the formulae for net worth, savings rate, & investment returns.* Don't distract us from these important projects with that tripling higher-math snake oil.
Besides, is that tripling before or after expenses & taxes?
Where's Suze Orman when you need her to help with these complex questions?

Too busy getting her teeth whitened and telling people to sell their stocks at the bottom of the market?

I actually have this mathematical relationship modeled in a comprehensive excel spreadsheet. The file is too big to post, anybody have any ideas on how I can show it to the forum? I'm stuck. I tried to do a screen capture and post it, but the spreadsheet is seven pages long. Help please.
(this is sarcasm).
