Android tablet with firefox crash during posting

Wondering if I'm the only one having the browser crash while typing a post.

Doesn't happen on other forum sites...only here.

Did not always happen...seems like it has been happening a month or so.

Doesn't happen every time.

Make sure you have the latest version of FF. Android is Google, which is Chrome. They may have a feature to do that. Microsoft used to do that with their APIs.

Also, there is a mobile app for this forum. Wouldn't that be the best?

Thanks for the reply.

Firefox keeps itself updated, and so does the android keyboard, which I think updated itself just before the problems started.

This tablet has a plenty big screen, so I'd rather not handicap myself into a mobile app that is less feature rich.

Yeah, I bet Chrome wouldn't crash! But I like Firefox because I run a plugin or two. Usually I'm the one that thinks of conspiracy theories first, but you beat me to that one, hehe!

It seems to happen more often after I type a period and then two spaces. I heard that it is no longer proper style to put two spaces after a period, so maybe now is the time to break that old habit!

Got any Firefox add ons? Try disabling them and see what happens.

I had one that cleared my cache and it did it whenever it felt like it and it screwed up my browser if I was on the internet. I set it to manual. No problems since.

Isn't a space just another character? Keep that habit, it helps reading.

So does splitting up long posts (not yours), I only read a couple of sentences then think, "Yeah, whatever".

Disabled all and ran my "try and break it" sequence, and it still broke.

Space is not a space when you have keyboard software that is too bigf for its britches. I can hit two spaces and it types a period and a space or two.

Paragraphs are good!

Here is how I break it on Android tablet:

Hit the quote button on someones post
Do a short touch after the close quote directive (places cursor)
Hit space twice (creates a period and two spaces)
Hit backspace to remove the period
Do a long touch after the close quote directive (selects the last brace)
Click the select all button
Crash happens

That is only one way to break it. There are many ways that do not involve select all, and it seems like some might not involve hitting space twice. Its just that the procedure above works (hehe, I mean crashes) every time!

I had an Android tablet running Firefox, Chrome, Dolphin, the stock browser, on and on and on. It would run ok with each browser for a little while but eventually each would bog down and start crashing. So one day after a particularly stressful day at work and a couple of tablet browser crashes I broke the POS over my thigh, a'la Bo Jackson. I bought an IPad Air after throwing what was left of that Android POS in the trash and haven't suffered a browser crash since...
