It may just be my browser and an update, possibly my poor memory (but I don't think so - this time), or maybe I inadvertently changed a setting. But I could swear that:

When entering text in a post, I could select some text and hit CNTRL-B and it would put the bold 'tags' around the selected text. Same with CNTRL-I for italics.

Now, a CNTRL-B gets 'grabbed' by the browser (FireFox 65.0 on Ubuntu/Xubuntu 18.04), and opens my Bookmarks Manager, CNTRL-I opens "Page Info".

I'm on the v1.0 interface (blue, I find the green 2.0 gaudy), and the WYSIWYG editor.

TIA - ERD50

Not sure, I always highlight the text and then use the BOLD button on the left side near fonts.

Ctl-B, I, Z, and U all work for me. Bold, italic, undo, underline. And, of course the buttons.

FF60.5 on Win10

Yes, but when my hands are already on the keyboard, it's easier to do a CNTRL-SHIFT and arrow keys to highlight some text, then CNTRL-B to bold it. Else, I have to take hands off the keyboard, grab mouse, aim it, and maybe scroll up on a long post, and scroll back down... Maybe several times in a post. I like highlighting to make things more readable. Well, that assumes anyone is actually reading them! :)

Not the end of the world, but if there is a simple fix I'm missing, I'd really like to be able to do it from the keyboard.

I agree about taking hands off the keyboard. Would rather not.

For some reason, I have always bolded things by typing in:

[ b]bolded stuff[ /b]

without the extra space after each left bracket so that it comes out

bolded stuff.

I just installed Firefox a few days ago to try it out again and compare with Microsoft Edge. What I got is Firefox version 65.0 . It does the same thing for me on my W10 laptop as it did for you with CTRL-B; shows me the bookmarks. Microsoft Edge just ignores the CTRL-B.

Ahhh, yes. I have done that sometimes when editing [ b], [ i], [ -], etc. That is an option, thanks for reminding me.

Did some more googling, it does seem to be Firefox thing, but seemed to have happened longer ago, not sure why it as a recent thing for me. No easy answers (rebuild FF from source? - no thanks), but the above is a work-around.
