I am on V.1 of ER. The blue one I love it but is their any way to get rid of the boxes on the right hand side of the screen?

Yes. Go to the "USER CP" tab (top banner on the main page)

Go to "Edit your details" on the left side panel
At the very bottom under "additional details" there's a check box that lets you turn on/off the right panel.
