I've been using Firecalc and am confused by a message I've been getting. I can input my numbers and get data out if in the Investigate tab I opt for "Display the results of the retirement plan". If I choose any other option I get the following message:

FIRECalc® Results
FIRECalc 3.0
Close the Results Window
Display (hide) input data
FIRECalc Results
ERROR -- Cannot continue.
Your browser is not sending the data you entered, so no processing can be done. This version of this program was replaced long ago, so I suggest you use new new one.

If there is a newer version than 3.0, I can't find it. Can anyone help me out? Thanks for your time.

I can't reproduce but also can't get any tab to work from the iPad. When I get to the desktop I'll check again - could be a OS problem?

I'm using a MacBook Pro. I have used this same lap top in the past without getting the error message.

I just logged in using the desktop and used FireCalc without any problem. However, I still can't use it from the iPad. Will advise technical support. Thanks for letting us know.

I just tried out FIRECALC on my iPad and it worked. Instead of having the option tabs appear as separate windows, they appeared all in one long page (maybe that's normal and I just never noticed it), but otherwise it worked. Even generated the chart, which I assumed wouldn't work. FWIW

Would you mind if I asked what is firecal? How do you use it and should I look into it. Thanks in advance

Thanks for that. I didn't check that but will and post back. Marber, does this help you any?

Wrirya, FIREcalc is a calculator that let's you enter income, portfolio and pension data and then calculates the likelihood you will outlive your portfolio. Along the bottom of the screen there is a tab where you can access it.

Last night I sometimes got all the tabs shown in 1 long window but I still could only get data for the default investigate view which is "Display the results of the retirement plan". Tried again this morning & still get the same error message that I listed in the 1st post of this thread for all other options.

Wrirya, if you are having trouble finding the link, here it is.

It appears something has changed for the better. I entered a scenario that I knew would fail and the summary and chart reflected same. But where I was getting one long window on my iPad, it's now displaying each page individually. Might have been something squirrelly earlier, but it appears to be working correctly now...

Mine as well

Still having a problem here. Same error message. Tried using my wife's computer which is a MacBook and had the same results.

I wish I could. I just tried all the buttons on the Investigate tab and I get a result each time. I wonder if it's something in the data you've entered, have you tried just leaving the default data in to see if that works? If so, we might be able to help get you going again...

I see there may have been a FIRECALC problem for Chrome users FWIW http://www.early-retirement.org/forums/f36/google-chrome-browser-firecalc-55017.html. No idea if it's an issue for Safari (assuming) though I went in thru Safari on my iPad no problem, so I doubt that. I use IE on my desktop.

Good idea Midpack,
Wished I had something better to report but when I used the default data, I got the same results.

Marc - I'm sorry you're having trouble. What browser version are you using?

Janet,
I'm using Safari Version 5.1.2 (6534.52.7).
I really want to thank everyone for your imput. Whether I get this going or not, your help is much appreciated!

I get the same error.

I open FIREcalc, click on the "investigate" tab, select "investigate changing my allocation" (for example), click "submit" at the bottom of the page and I get this:

I have not changed any of the default data.

I use Safari 5.1.2

Edit: no problem in Internet Explorer or Firefox. No problem either with Safari for iPad.

I thought this sounded familiar. I don't get the error now, but I don't know when or what might have changed.

FYI, I'm now on: Chromium 15.0.874.106 (Developer Build 107270 Linux) Ubuntu 10.04

I'm starting to wonder if Safari may be a factor. Works perfectly on my desktop using IE. But I don't have a helpful troubleshooting suggestion, sorry...

Must be Safari that is he problem. I downloaded Firefox and had no problem. Thanks everyone for your help.
