Are premium assistance payments taxable?
Are premium assistance payments taxable? I'm pretty sure they are not, but rather than waiting for a hour on the phone to call the official state number I thought I'd ask here first.
I qualify for MassHealth (MA Medicaid) but because I have health insurance from my previous employer the state will pay a part of the premium to keep me off the Medicaid rolls. I'm pretty sure that premium assistance check is not taxable and when I do my taxes it just reduces the amount the health insurance payments I can claim as a deduction.
