My DW has a herniated disc in the cervical spine and recently has had trouble sleeping on a firm bed. We solved the problem at home by adding a 4" memory foam mattress topper to our bed. The problem comes when we travel. Many hotel chains tout their superior bedding and we tend to spend more on lodging to get this comfort. But sometimes we just get stuck in lodging with a too firm bed. Does anyone have suggestions for an easy to carry supplemental bed pad that can be checked in as a luggage item when traveling by air?

Get a thick sleeping bag (cotton & poly, not nylon) and a duffle bag. Should be easy to carry and give her some of the cushiness she needs.

Call the hotel ahead of time to see if they have foam egg crates to put on the bed if not soft enough? I've been told some cruiselines make these available, why not a hotel??
