BC: Your new rate is the same

Got a letter from Blue Cross saying "...we sometimes have to raise our rates due to expenseive new technologies, blah blah blah."

Then it says "Your current monthly rate for your 3500 HSA plan is $188. Your new rate will be: $188"

Do you think it's a mistake, or will my rate really not go up??

Mine went down (from $168/mo in 2006 to $147 in 2007).

I'm in the "preferred" rate class (the one they quote on the
automatic-quote website, but evidently there is one actually lower).
This is for a $2000 deductible ($4000 max out-of-pocket) HSA plan
and I'm an early 50s male.

Re: BC: Your new rate is the same

When I was paying for health care out of my own pocket, my rates would frequently go down. When I read the policies side by side, it was usually evident as to why. Coverage limits were reduced, co-pays increased, some elements no longer covered, etc.

One year it dropped a lot, and on checking it turned out that my prescription drug coverage had been dropped by changing the terms of the plan I was in...but since I caught it I was allowed to move into a different more expensive plan that still included prescription drugs.
