Brocco Sprouts

I saw a report the other night concerning the benefits of brocco sprouts. Here is a link discussing the benefits. Looks like a real cancer fighting veggie. Anyone eating it?

"This is the most dynamic thing you can eat of any fruit or vegetable to prevent cancer," Blackwell said. "It helps prevent all kinds of cancers because it takes the cause of the cancers, the free radicals."

"His research has shown it actually takes out free radicals from the human body, and over six weeks, one four ounce package will take out about 82 percent of free radicals out of the human body," Blackwell explained.

If you search CFB's old posts for the keyword "broccoli", you'll see that for several years he's been quietly yet methodically assembling the evidence to produce a documentary that'll blow the lid off the broccoli industry:

"Broccoli-- The Silent Killer".

I can eat the stuff with lunch if I remember to pull it out of the fridge. But when I look at my disgustingly healthy plate of fish, whole-wheat pasta, & broccoli I feel as if I'm trapped in a Dave Barry column. He says that these days he has very serious conversations about nutrition & fiber among friends at whose pool parties he used to swim drunk, stoned, and naked...

Sometimes. I get kitty grass seeds from Sproutpeople.com. It's a fun website that 'splains it all. Over the years, in order to bring my orders up to their minimum, I've tried many of their seeds and sprouting methods. Fun hobby I plan to resume at the big R. As far as the broccoli goes, I believe it's one that can be grown on a product called "baby blanket," no soil is used in that process. I take four different sprouting seeds and put them in 4" x 4" flats, I think that product is called a "French garden." So up comes four different colored and textured crops. It becomes a living mini set, complete with (my added) mini-farmer and tools (rakes, hoes, etc.). Urban gardening. Some of those sprouts are really tasty but I think the broccoli is a little bitter. So mix it up with other sprouts.

Yeah they have that research backwards. In ten years all you broccoli eaters will be stricken with horrible illnesses.

AND you had to eat an icky vegetable too!

Wasnt there some recent stuff that said the 'free radicals' actually werent that bad and that oxidants might be good for you?

About 10 years ago, sprouts awash in e. Coli killed a bunch of people. Hummus and sprout sandwiches used to be one of my favorite snacks. As an immuno-suppressed transplant patient, not any more.

Hideous frightening substance.

Maybe if it was wrapped in bacon and then deep fried.

Nah, check that. I tried a piece of tempura broccoli once and it still sucked!

Well Ill admit that is a bit extreme. I mean broccoli boiled/steamed is good. Or in stir fry. But um juiced is not my thing. That is hard core broccoli . that is like freebasing ..
