To be clear, I take my doctor's recommendations very seriously; he is a trained professional. And I may very well do exactly as he recommends. But, in my view, the use of the phrase "the doctor put me on _____ " indicates someone who has abdicated their own responsibility for their health care, in a way that "I am taking ____" does not.

Dr did acquiesce to my request for naprosyn.

What is Dr looking for in eyes and ears?

Eyes:
Retinopathy from diabetes or hypertension, macular degeneration
Opaque lenses from cataracts
Glaucoma

Ears:
Wax which may explain deafness (very easy to treat)
Bulging eardrums from chronic otitis media

Lots of good info there for the taking, and more. Glad your doctor took the trouble to look, Khan!
