ER (Emergency Room) statistics

Why going commando is a very bad idea...

Quote:
... an estimated 17,616 people wound up in U.S. emergency rooms between 2002 and 2012 because they caught their genitals, almost always penises, in zippers.
Quote:
Zipper injuries are the single most common cause of penile injury in adult men reporting to emergency rooms, Bagga explained in an interview, followed by bicycles. (In small boys, the most common cause of penile injury is a toilet seat slamming down when the child is urinating...)

I understand that Mayor Bloomberg will soon be proposing Button Fly pants for males as zipper pants are phased out over a one year period. Tourists and visitors to New York City will be exempt if they can show they have been present in the city for a continuous period of not more than 10 days.

This change will save New York City taxpayers about $17 million dollars per year in emergency room costs and medical follow-up to these needless genital injuries.

It's all about common sense government.

My mother always told me not to wear underwear with a hole as I might end up in the emergency room and be embarrassed. Maybe going commando is a somewhat risky way around this potential embarrassment.

Wow, I didn't realize it but apparently there are even more advantages to being female than I thought!

Scotland, however, has a remarkably low rate of these types of injury.

Pull the zipper either down or up, depending on which is easier to get it unstuck, and see if that gets the job done. Pull as gently or as hard as you want to based on your pain tolerance.
