Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey has sold over 31 million copies to mostly women so that proves it

"It is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices involving bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, sadism/masochism (BDSM)."

Now, I want everyone to grab their spouse tonight and spank that caboose !

This is going to be fun

Here is a very funny review of Fifty Shades of Grey - Katrina Lumsden (Charlotte, MI)'s review of Fifty Shades of Grey

The blogger didn't think much of the book, but is her review ever funny complete with pictures to get her point across.

We'll have to get members reporting in here as they act out scenes from this best seller!

I read a little of it, only because people at work were saying how great it was. The writing was awful. I couldn't get more than about 1/3 of the way through. I agree with everything the review said! The review was much better written than the book.

I was ready to purchase it but after reading the awful reviews I purchased "Gone Girl " instead . A much better choice .

"Kill it with fire!" Bwah hahaahhahah!

Very funny review. I already wasn't going to read the book based on other reviews I've seen, but this review made "not reading it" so much more fun!

That was a very funny/creative review. Considering I wasn't going to read this in the first place, I could only get through about two minutes of reading a review of how bad this book was, but it was an entertaining two minutes

'Mommy Porn' is how I described it to DW.

I was surprised to find the book on the "Rock Stars" shelves at the library. I took it out and was barely able to get through about 4 chapters before returning it. Similar "crap" can be found online for free (which is what I feel this book is worth). You don't need the book to spice up your love life, just use your imagination.

After I attempted to read it and realized how bad it was, I found out that she started writing it as amateur fan fiction for the Twilight series. Sounds about right.

That review had me laughing so hard my face hurts!

The book was recommended to me by a female friend a few weeks ago. I never bothered to buy it. If I ever want to take walk on the wild side, no lousy book will serve that purpose for me. Plenty of sites online for the visual stim.

Read it because a good friend insisted. Lousy writing plus a disturbing plot line about a woman dominated by a disturbed man she thinks she can help. IMHO, not a good message for young women. Made me think of how many times I’ve heard of battered women who sadly thought they could help their man overcome their demons.

After reading it, I felt a need to quickly go on to something better and picked up 11/22/63 by Stephen King. What a contrast. Yeah, I know King's not Shakespeare, but the dude sure can tell a story. Much better than E. L. James without a doubt.

Then there must be a lot of imagination challenged women, because the sales of this book are certainly nothing to sneeze at.

SM, domination stuff does not do anything for me, but it clearly does for some people.

Ha

I'm amused by the tourists who gawk at the Escala (the setting for the book) as they visit Seattle. Tee hee hee.

Having read it, I think the popularity goes beyond a fascination for kinky sex. Anastasia heals the beautiful, rich man desired by many women who suffers from a tragic past. She becomes a heroine worshiped by him and his family.

I love a passionate love story with a sad back story for sure but this is ridiculous on so many levels. No Wuthering Heights for sure.

The only thing that impresses me about this book is how she has managed to become rich from such a poorly written book.

I've heard there is a difference between good writing and good story. I demand both, but I'm a word nerd. Plenty of folks connected with her story, despite the weak prose. For those who like the subject matter but not the writing, Ann Rice did a great "sleeping beauty" series under a pen name. If you're going to read erotica, it may as well be high quality writing!

Wow, I am sorry to hear this. I thought it was just a young chick who liked old guys and rough sex.

Now it appears that she is just another young woman mentally damaged by reading too many absurd romances while growing up American.

Too bad.
