Alzheimer's Association

The Alzheimer's Association (particularly the chapter in your state) can provide valuable information and host support groups on a regular basis. As the Administrator of a skilled nursing facility that works with stage 6 & 7 dementia patients, the support groups are a godsend to families in helping them to understand and deal with what is happening to their loved one.

Those with early onset unfortunately usually progress more quickly. I know one lady who got it at about age 55 and she lived about 4 years. I'm really sorry for your friend and you, too.

When the time is right tell your friend about Social_Security_Compassionate_Allowances. The conditions on this list, which includes early onset Alzheimer's, takes Social Security a couple of months to process versus the year plus for other disabilities.
