Hip pain update.

Just got back from the specialist and thought I’d give you an update. I have a small 3x11mm synovial cyst between my L4-L5 vertebra which is impinging on the sciatic nerve causing my back, hip and leg pain. The plan is to get some physical therapy, a steroid epidural shot and then a week or so later another procedure to drain the cyst. and inject a steroid solution in the hopes that will take care of the problem. If it doesn’t then surgery to remove the cyst and fuse L4-L5. May sound worse than what it actually is but I'll know soon enough.

Ain't getting old fun ?

I totally skipped the steroid shots as many folks told me it doesn't last, and the pain all comes back in a couple of weeks, and it's expensive.

If you end up getting surgery...get a neurosurgeon for the procedure. My DW had this same procedure performed approximately 15 months ago. She walked/played 18 holes of golf today for the first time since the surgery. She was thrilled at this milestone, because she truly loves golf. "Brace" yourself, because you'll have to wear an uncomfortable back brace for 6 months. Wish you the best!
