How to find the best Supplemental Medicare Plan?

At one time I found a website that rated the different Supplemental Medicare Plans for Illinois (insert your State here). However, I can't find that site now, so am wondering if anyone on the board has knowledge of where I can check into which plan might be best?

I don't know if every state does this but in Washington the Insurance Commissioner puts out an annual comparison which is very helpful. I would say start by calling your State Insurance Office.

Do you mean individual insurers or a comparison of the different types of Medigap plans? If the latter, AARP has a writeup here:

Medigap Plans, Medicare Supplemental Insurance Plan, Original Medicare, Medicare Benefits, Medigap Benefits--AARP

Apparently, there are different rules and plans in Massachusetts, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and this link suggests checking with the relevant state's insurance department in those three cases.

I meant individual insurers, however, thanks for that helpful link.
I am in Illinois and plan to move out of State when my eldercaring duties are done. I wonder how that will affect my insurance choice? For instance, if I get BC/BS of Illinois and move to Nevada, say, it will be a different insurer as they are not owned by the same companies (I found this out the hard way when I moved from Texas to Illinois and had BC/BS).

All insurance regulation (and hence policy details, etc.) is state-based. So every state will have a different market, different policies, insurers, rate structures, etc. As such, look to the relevant state's insurance department for information. Barring that, find a good insurance agent to sort through the dreck.
