week date D lbs D lbs total
1 Mar 10 - 2.2 - 6.6
2 Mar 17 - 1.8 - 8.4
3 Mar 24 + 1.4 - 7.0

Since I have stayed within or below my allotted Weight Watchers points all week, I can only conclude that my gain is due to the Chinese food yesterday.

I'm blaming all this on weightlifting increasing muscle, reducing fat, - and muscle weighs more than fat, so I am going to weigh more now that I have increased weight lifting
When I started weight lifting last year (no, I'm not doing it now...to darn busy and tired!), I gained weight right away, too. I think it's due to extra water retention related to the inflammation caused by muscle injury. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Feel free to borrow it.

Up 1/2 a pound from last week. I'm on-plan, so not terribly worried. I figure that the easy weight is gone and from now on it's going to be a slow downhill slope. OK by me, so long as downhill is the direction it's going!

But I sprained my ankle Thursday, and so exercise isn't going to be happening for awhile. Well, aerobic exercise. I might take this opportunity to do some weightlifting.

Sorry to hear about your ankle, take care of it, ankles can take a long time to heal. We were shopping and DW was giving me a hard time at the pharmacy section as I was there ages before coming away with a wrist brace, knee supports and ankle strapping Along with my back brace it takes me a good ten minutes these days immediately before going out to play tennis

Ok, I am ready to join back in. I used to post on this thread regularly, however every week it was a weight gain rather than a loss. I was tired of my complaining, so figured everyone else would be so I dropped out.

Anyway sometime later I have some answers. A bit of background, in 2009 I gained 13 lbs, in 2008 it must have been another 10 and so on. In 2005 I was a size 6, in 2009 I was up to a size 12 and growing. None of this was making sense to me as I was exercising and watching calories. Went to the Dr, first Dr refused to run any tests, told me all I needed to do was go camping for 10 days and everything would be ok. Needless to say I didn't go back. In Jan went to another Dr who my internet research indicated was very highly regarded. Wonderful woman who actually listened to everything I said. Bottom line is my thyroid was not functioning properly and I have low testoterone which can result in less muscle tone more fat. Am on medication for both. So my 2010 weight loss results are as follows:

2 Jan 157.8 lbs
6 Feb 153.0 lbs (4.8 lbs)
6 Mar 151.4 lbs (1.6 lbs - total 6.4 lbs)
29 Mar 149.4 lbs (2.0 lbs - total 8.4 lbs)

My first goal was to crack 150 by the end of March which I have achieved.
My second goal is to crack 145 by my birthday early May.
Third goal is to crack 140 by the end of Q2 30 June.
Fourth goal is to crack 130 by the end of Q3 30 September.

I am not dieting per se. I am eating a lot of fish and veg. Leaving pasts and breads alone as much as possible. I think there may be something in the low carb diet for me. Keeping chocolates out of the house so there is no temptation.

I have been working out on my treadmill and going for hikes. I am going to throw in some cycling as well.

I am feeling positive about losing weight for the first time in ages. I was excited to be down 8lbs, started trying on my size 10 clothes, however I think it is going to be another 10lbs before I can even consider those items fitting. I still look like a squeezed sausage.

.
Welcome back and so glad that you found a medical solution to a good part of your weight gain. You have made great progress already!

I'm sorta eating like you are too. I'm leaving bread and pasta pretty much alone. I eat Rye Crisps for my bread and not much at that. However, I am NOT leaving chocolate alone. I have my daily allotment of dark choco chips.

I'm trying to maintain right now even though I'm still a size 12, I think that's a good size range for me.

I can't believe that I just lost another 1.4 lbs in 3 days. Believe me, I am not starving myself to death, nor am I going rabid on exercise. I am just eating healthy, no calorie counting and moving my butt. It has just been such a nice exeperience to see the scales move in the right direction.

I'm off to ride my bike for 30 minutes on the trainer in our garage today. Even though I have lost weight I still can not fit into my size 10 clothes, which I think is going to require me to hit my 140 lbs.

I got a pleasant surprise when I went to the doctor the other day—I've only regained 10 lbs (not 20) of the 30 I lost 7 or 8 years ago. Or maybe I regained 20 and then lost 10 again. Anyway, I was 10 lbs lighter than I thought I was.
