Wow!!!! Way to go and now the pressure is on! (For both of us!) :greetings10:

Very impressive Alan!

Thanks guys, I'm always nervous when I lose as much as 4.5lbs in a single week, hence my cautious celebration.

You are continuing to do great Ron and are now well within your 180 - 185, Summer - Winter range. That's quite an achievement.

SG, Your resilience is so impressive, I'm sure you will get back on track down towards your target.

Freebird - that's 2 weeks in the 170's, very well done indeed.

Well, I've reached goal number one. I'm overweight now. No longer obese. I made it down to 226 from a high of 262 (6'1" tall). I haven't been this low in over 18 years. My next goal is easier, 225 (nice round number). After that, 220, then 210, then 200, which is my ultimate goal. I'd still be overweight according to the gov't chart, but I don't buy into that so much anyway. If/when I get there I'll reassess. Mostly, I figure that eating properly from now on will get me to some level of consistant weight that is healthy for me. Be interesting to see what that is.

225.4

I've been reading Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis. DW and I gave up wheat and pretty much all grains about 3 months ago. She's dropped over 30 lbs, and I'm down 17 since the change. This is with no dieting, just no wheat. Except the occasional shot or two of bourbon on my part. His book is interesting, although I'm not qualified to judge the science. But while recognizing that correlation does not imply causation, the increase in obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, etc seems awfully tightly tied to the low fat, plenty of whole grains meme. Anyway, it's working for us. I've always been a starving pleasure eater, and since dropping the wheat from my diet I've turned into an "eat for fuel" person. No more late night snacking, no more sugar spikes, blood sugar has dropped from the 200s to ~135 on average. We'll see where it goes from here.

Thanks for the update Harley. It sounds like you have found something that works for you. keep up the good work, you know there are plenty of us cheering you on from the sidelines.

Sounds like Mrs Harley is doing great as well.

Thanks for posting Kat, your results are very impressive indeed - well done. Are you still attending WW meetings to encourage others with your example?

Long after I'd achieved my goal I used to go the WW meetings at work since they were so convenient, and free, since I'd achieved my goal.

You guys are such losers :). SG, after the past few months, you're still right there (and you looked so cute in your Halloween costume on that other thread!). And Alan, why do you think you're dropping now that you're back in Texas and not going on the marathon hikes through those beautiful hills?

We have a family wedding that we leave for in three weeks so I am laughing that I picked up book last weekend, "The 17 Day Diet." Even though I started it with five days to spare, I think I can stick it out. Not bad, not much earthshaking news, pretty typical low carb, high protein, lots of veggies plan, but also low fat and lots of water. And entertainingly written compared to some of those out there. Down 3 lbs., so yay! I've also for the last month been working with a trainer once a week and have found that I DO have triceps--who knew....

Thanks guys - I think that while in England we knew it was only temporary and endulged ourselves quite a bit in the local food and ale. We had some great pubs in the town, and the local butchers was simply awesome, particularly for bacon, ham, sausages, meat pies and pasties. We also had a great Indian restaurant 10 minutes walk from the house.

From the first week in August onwards we had almost none stop visitors from the US, Scotland and England, so the eating and drinking was even more difficult to control.

I agree that SG is also doing great but I missed the photo of her in the Halloween costume - link please :).

BestWife, I'll also be looking for the photo of the newly found triceps. That is great news that you are continuing to lose weight and have results you can see in your new regime with a trainer.

Everybody is doing great ! I skipped last weeks weigh in and was rewarded with gaining a pound . So back to weekly weigh ins . I need it to stay motivated. SG you are my inspiration in so many ways ! Alan , great job ! Freebird , I am really impressed that you can cook goodies for MR.B and still diet .

I do go to meetings. I am an, ahem, regained WW lifetime member. I got to lifetime 20 years ago but regained when I went out of town for 2 weeks for work, ate out all the time and came back having gained 5 pounds or so. I was embarrassed to go back and have to pay so I decided to go back when I got back to goal. Well that didn't work out too well.... (And, btw, you are certainly doing great now!)

Finding it very hard to lose weight without being able to exercise hard...but as long as I don't keep gaining (past 126/127) I'm ok with this until I can get back to my normal routine. I did break a sweat in my dance class this morning - kept my arms down and did fine - woo-hoo! :D

Thai food is supposed to be so healthy but I've lost 15 pounds since returning to the Land of the Round Door Knobs (USA.)

Meat and potatos baby- hold the rice please :)

LOL, I think it's all the coconut milk in the curry sauces...YUM!!! I cook thai at home (grow my own thai basil), and I have to limit myself to how often I do or the scales definitely climb!

You've really done outstandingly well. The real test of maintenance is how well you get back to a maintenance weight when you gain a few pounds.
