Moemg, awesome about the pants - that is such a great feeling!

Alan, I see we survived our indulgences at The Olive Garden quite well. Everyone, yep, he's just as great a guy in person. And his wife is just as lovely! Hi friend. :greetings10:

+1, well done indeed.

Yes, lunch at the O.G. seemed like a big extravagance, calorie wise, but all 3 of us seemed to have survived the experience weight-wise.

It was great meeting you and I was impressed that you understood every word I said, or at least did a great job of pretending that you did. :)

LOL, there were a few challenging moments, but I'm a quick study!

Guess it is about time I got back onto this thread. After years of struggling with my weight I seem to have found the combo that works for me. Over prior years I tried all kinds of diets, weight watchers, calorie counting ranging from 1200 calories a day up to 2000 with no success.

On 2 Jan I started the Dukan diet. I experienced an immediate weight loss of 4 lbs. It was amazing. However Dukan is not the diet for me. I found what went it didn't come out plus I can't survive on protein only. I shortly after switched to low carb taking into account what I learnt from Dukan and it has been all success all the way. My weights for 2012 are as follows:

2 Jan 163.2 lbs
1 Feb 155.6 lbs
1 Mar 149.8 lbs
21 Mar 148.0 lbs

I still have another 15lbs to go, but know to break through to the next level I need to shake up my exercise routine. I am off to France for two weeks this weekend, so it will be interesting to see how my weight goes during my absence.

Good to catch it early and nip it in the bud! This is why I weigh in almost daily...keeps me honest and on track with my diet (usually, LOL!) So much easier to lose a few pounds than a bunch. I'm sure you'll kick those 2# to the curb in no time. :D

Welcome to the group :greetings10:

You are a similar height to me with a similar weight goal. Your eating and exercise style sounds the same as well. When I started on this eating and exercise regime 10 years ago I started at 210 with a 1 year goal to get below 185. (which I achieved and have never been above 185 since then).

Good luck, I wish you as much success as I have had.

We have a 3 month vacation coming up soon, with no scales available anywhere on our travels so it will be interesting to see how I do with no feedback over such a long time.

Alan - you should pick up a new scale while you're on vacation. The one you're using now is stuck.

It does look like it has been a good routine we've been in this past couple of months.

I have a question for y'all, slightly off topic but not too much. As we all have heard over and over it's dangerous to yo-yo with regard to weight loss. My doctor once told me it was better for my health to stay one obese weight than to lose and regain, especially over and over.

However, as usual in these things, there's no real definition of yo-yoing. In my case I had lost down to 225 before Thanksgiving, then through the holidays and early part of the year gained back up to 239 (currently 234). That's a 14 lb weight gain. Sounds like a lot. but it's actually less than 6% of my weight. That would be a 9 lb gain for a 150 lb person. Is this yo-yoing? I fluctuate all over in that range. If not, what percentage of body weight loss and gain does qualify? I'd like to get down to 190 and stay there, but I'd also like to win the lottery. Have any of you been told or heard anything about what amount of loss and gain fluctuations result in additional health issues? Or is this just one of those stories?
