It's Wednesday weigh ins! 2007-2022

I'm afraid my wife's mother died a few days ago so we have been in England for a week and will not get back for another week, so no weigh-ins, minimal exercise and bad eating habits for 2 weeks is not going to be good when I next weigh-in.

Alan, so sorry to hear of your mother-in-law's passing. My mother and my mother-in-law have passed recently, so I understand the difficult time. My heart goes out to you and your wife. Look forward to hearing from you upon your return.

Yesterday was a low for Wednesdays in 2009. Last Friday's Black Belt exam went well, and I'm now a 3rd dan. Then we ordered pizza on Saturday. I had leftover pizza on Sunday. I also had a dish of cold stone ice cream mixed with peanut butter cups (I mixed it myself, behind the counter for a charity thing).

So I'm not quite sure why I was lighter this week. I bounced back to 194.6 this morning, which is still okay.
 
Looks like everyone has done very well this week - great work guys. I second the use of the recumbent bike, I've used it at our gym when my knee was bad.

I'm sorry for your loss. Minimal exercise and bad eating habits are expected in times like these. I'm sure you'll recover nicely from the 2 weeks off. And yes - recumbent bikes are great for the knees

Week one following the principles of the glycemic load diet.

Lost to date: .5 lbs.
Left to lose to make 35 lb. goal: 34.5

We were at a party Saturday night featuring make-you-own pizza and wine, so that set me back a little (was down 1.5 pre-party). I did walk five out of the seven days and walked nine holes of golf another day. This weekend will also involve social occasions (and thank goodness! social occasions are important too), so hope to come down maybe another .5 next week.

Floating around in a 1.5 pound range over the last couple of weeks. Frankly, anything under 195 is a decent weight for me.

Next week I won't have a weigh-in. I'll be on vacation. When I come back, I'm going to be heavy. I'm going to end up eating badly and probably won't feel very guilty about it, either.

3 weeks in a row at the same weight. Lifting a lot more weights so I probably wont hit the 185 goal by Nov 1. I have a new goal - not to exceed 195. Thats my main objective anyway - not to gain weight. And no more posted weigh-ins unless I hit 195. That would trigger a new weight loss program.

I'm afraid 2 weeks of poor eating in England did me in. Even though I walked lots and didn't drink a single of beer I put on 4lbs. Oh well, at least I was at the low end of my range before the trip.

Not bad at all considering the stressful nature of the trip. You'll be back on track in no time! :flowers:

Thanks! I don't expect to lose too much this week, after that start since I usually lose weight much more slowly. And then the next week is my daughter's wedding, in Oregon.... so that will be tough, but I am hoping to lose a total of 15-20 pounds by Christmas. That would be wonderful. :) Then, I can go from there as I have more, more, more to lose. I would put my weight, instead of the loss, but the shock might kill some of the guys here (especially those who think I look like my avatar! :2funny:) So for now, all I want to put is the loss.

By the way, travel seems to put temporary pounds on for some of us. I am always up at least 2-3 pounds just from the flight, and it disappears a few days later. Hope that happens in your case too.

180 Oct 15 - no treadmill, lots of activity outside. Doc examined knee last week, and told me to lay off treadmill until knees recovered, then resume slowly. :rolleyes: Happy to be maintaining, with no serious gains. :D

Too much eating out at restaurants this week.
 
My plan to follow the glycemic load thingie plan has fizzled big time! I'm now up 2.5 lbs. from my original weight where I had the goal of a 25 lb. loss. :mad::mad::nonono: and any other mad/sad smilies out there.

Can't blame the glycemic load thingie--have to follow something for it to work! Today I'm joining a gym and tomorrow I'm going to face the music at Weight Watchers.

That's a bummer. From my research, I'd have thought it would work and be easy to follow. DW and I have been following it, eating more, and not losing any weight. Haven't had any bread, rice or potatoes for two months, and don't miss them.

179.5 Oct 21 - dh2b discovered that the Schwann's truck is parked daily in a gas station right on the way home. :rolleyes: I've hidden the order catalog from him. Too expensive, too fattening.
