It's from my Tanita scale. I know there's a good chance that the absolute percentage is way off, but it seems to give a fairly consistently reasonable result. When I feel fatter, the scale's percentage is usually up. So for my purposes it doesn't matter if it is off on an absolute sense.

Hope you have a good trip. We are currently out of town staying with DD over Christmas, then with DS over New Year. The weather has been very cold and damp so we haven't even been out doing much walking to counter all the food we've been consuming

However, this morning it looks nice and bright so we should get in a long walk today at least.

Negative progress, but not bad considering the season and the complete lack of exercise. I'll get moving with my pre-New Year's resolutions.

Sigh....
164 today. No wonder I've been hiding from this thread forever!
Thanksgiving/Christmas/slacking off has done its work, and now I've got 20 lbs to lose--but at least I know how to do it this time.

Ronstar, what is your plan to lose the 10 lbs/10 weeks (a good goal, BTW)?

Freebird, I hear ya'! I treated the holidays like those calories wouldn't actually stick!

I don't think I'll qualify for the biggest loser at 1 pound per week, but it seems like a realistic goal. Here is the plan:

McDonald's only once a week instead of 5 times a week
1 soda a week instead of 10-15
no pasta, very little bread, no doughnuts or chocolate
cut back on beer
amp up my treadmill/weights exercise program to 6-7 days a week

I hope this will do it.

Those sound good, Ronstar.
What is the plan for replacing the rest of those sodas? Do you like water? Lemonade? Diet drinks?
Also, try the Amstel light beer--it isn't bad for only 90 calories. I'm cutting out beer as well and giving myself just one night each week to have a "real meal" with beer or liquor.

Good luck!

Still on vacation and out of town so won't be weighing in for another week.

Ron,
Your target seems very achievable and is the right way to lose weight if you want to be able to keep it off for the long stretch. As Sarah says, what are you going to substitute for the lack of soda, beer etc? It is a lot easier for many folks to substitute rather than drop food items, particularly once you have achieved your goal (I assume you won't go back to your old eating pattern, but ease up a little).

I'm going back up towards 200 from close to 190.
Does anyone ever not gain weight during the holidays.
Also, since it's winter I think my body's inner workings are saying that I need to store fat for a hibernation as well. Someday it will be spring and I can come out of my tree trunk.

This web site lets you make a contract with yourself to reach a goal. If you fail, you have to pay $X to a friend, and enemy, a charity, or an anti-charity (a charity for a cause you hate). Looks interesting.

I vote for milkshakes and super weight gain 5000 drinks. delicous nutritious and a good way to get back all those calories you'll lose by not drinking soda.
