I'm with Alan. A memento mori would certainly help me remember...

Today's weigh-in -- down another 0.8 lbs. I was hoping for more, since I had no change in weight last week, but I'll take it. As long as the trajectory is downward, I'll try not to quibble about the magnitude....

Oh well, happy to be back in the 160's anyway.
Going on a cruise to the Caribbean on Sunday, so won't be weighing in next week and hope the damage isn't too bad when I weigh in 2 weeks from now. Portion control, lots of walking, snorkeling and swimming and only one glass of wine/day should work. I hope. The one glass/day might be hard. But if I stay away from the wine, I'll probably stay away from the casino which has the potential for more damage than the wine.

Good job urchina, you'll probably get a good woosh next week!

Wonderful progress for you also
I freely admit I will be concentrating on the long term maintenance part now, i.e. keeping my caloric intake lower as a long term habit.

However......I'll graciously accept the challenge.

Start your engines...let's do some Mustang wheelies

A little backward slide, but much better than it could have been after 4 days in Austin eating wayyyyy too much as we celebrated DD and my birthdays.

Next week we'll be in Louisiana for 3 days so another challenge in the eating stakes. We won't get back until Wednesday night so I won't need to report the bad news here

Well done you guys that are dropping those pounds week after week, keep on doing whatever it is you're doing

Good going

My birthday of a few weeks ago that we celebrated last weekend was the BIG one that got me to the magic age of qualifying for the company pension and retiree Health insurance.

I just got another fabulous birthday present a few minutes ago - HR called to say that my Megacorp just made an announcement that as a reward for our efforts over the last couple of years during such difficult times they were giving out bonuses. For me it is 11% of 2009's salary

(must..... resist..... eating..... a fatted calf...)

Wow!! What a great surprise, Alan! So happy for you. Nothing like a big bonus to cheer up a retiree!

I have dropped out of participating on this thread, because my downwards trend of the first couple of months seems to have paused. I haven't gained most of it back, but I am not even trying to lose right now which explains why I am not losing... a predictable result. However, Frank just retired and he wants to lose some weight so maybe his enthusiasm will be contagious.

Congratulations to Frank on his retirement and wanting to lose weight

The best way to lose weight is with a partner, so I hope you persuade him to track his weight every week like you do and together you may well find it makes a big difference to your motivation and end results.

Sa-weeet!!!!!!!!! That is definitely something to celebrate! A fatted calf would not be the first thing to come to my mind, though, LOL. It would be more like a hot fudge sundae for me. Oooops! Must-stop-talking-about-forbidden-foods-on-this-thread!

Uhn uuuuuhhhh, not a good enough excuse

Just kidding...ALL of us have posted temporary gains since joining the thread. No problem, as a person's weight tends to oscillate all the time.
Gimme a minute...I'm trying to remember something I read somewhere about the Earth's gravitation anomolies and their effect on bathroom scales.
Sounds like Frank will make an excellent weight loss buddy.

Lost 2 pounds during my cruise! So much more exercise by just walking. Didn't take the elevator hardly at all and walked the length of the ship many many many times each day. Shore days were also very good for walking not to mention the airport race walks (pant pant pant).

Such good healthy food every day. Salads, no sugar desserts (I did limit myself to 1 or 2 a day). I found a new breakfast that I've not had before - muesli. Had a bowl each morning with berries and a little cottage cheese topper. So loved the lox, capers and very thinly sliced onions too. I've been making my own muesli since I returned home but can't afford the lox every morning.

Signed up for another cruise for next year. It sure did help with the winter doldrums.

Great work guys, particularly SG for hitting her target range and for h2b for losing weight on a cruise

We've been away this last few days so I couldn't weigh in, which is probablt just as well considering the quantity of food and drink I've consumed

Weighed in today, a day later than I normally do, and...

Down 3.8 lbs since last week! This makes 19.6 lbs lost since December 15th. Yay oh yay!

Good work team -- we're all doing pretty good right now, from what I see.

I'm about 25 lbs away from my fatted calf feast (or kahlua pork, yum!) but now I can anticipate it... and the oncoming cherry pie season. Yum yum!
