Mark Cuban on Twitter: Have Quarterly blood tests

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban recently decided to start giving personal health tips on Twitter. He advised people to have their blood tested every three months for everything available. The Pulitzer-winning health journalist Charles Ornstein took exception to this. Read about it here:

I really shouldn't say Mark Cuban is an idiot. But I say a lot of things I shouldn't.

Excellent discussion. Concerns on costs and false positives. 'First do no harm'.

I love the term one doc used - Incidentaloma! Don't ever volunteer for a total body MRI! That fabulous money maker - the Executive Physical!

I wonder if that shows up in his quarterly blood tests.

He might just have stock in Quest or another blood testing lab. Smart to drum up demand!

Did Mark mention anything about Medicare paying for this? I get my blood tested every 6 months. That's enough for me (don't want to run out of it).

Hmmm... What is "everything"?

I wonder when I go for the annual physical exam and have a blood test, do they check for "everything" or just the pedestrian stuff like the metabolic panel and the complete blood count? My doctor said it all looked good, and I even took a copy, but never looked at it again.

What if I missed something? Need to go back to the doctor and ask for "everything".
