This article tells of a man who bid for medical services for his hip replacement surgery. I wonder if we might see more of this type of thing in the future. He says he's happy with the results. Emergency and urgent issues could not be dealt with this way.

I did have a family member who needed a hip replacement some years ago and was not yet at the medicare age and was without insurance. The new hip cost around $60k and it was a long long payment plan to get it paid off.

Good one. I wonder how much of the cost was support services and how much does the surgeon actually make? Maybe he got the hip at the "bone yard"? Just a little auto / Halloween humor.
