need surgery before I can begin early retirement

Looking forward to my early retirement date of July 14
However before I get there I need bunionectomy/osteootomy May 22nd. Per doc I'll have 4-6wks limited activity followed by another 4-6wks before full use.
Then I can start my "early retirement" even though it will be past my ER date. On the other hand I'll be leaving work May 22, not July 14.

How do I start to enjoy my ER when Im still recovering? very slowly, right? Read those books, watch those DVDs, Nap/rest, sit in the sun. When I start to feel better I can go to friends pools, beach, start back to my active life, etc. I honestly cannot see myself sitting still for even a short period of time.
Then watch out - once I feel better I can truly enjoy my Early Retirement

Never mind. I saw your other post indicating that you are staying on the job. That is what those benefits are for.
