 I and all the other federal employees who got the seven year premium increase must now choose between the old and the new plan. What are the main differences, and which one is better? I am mainly worried about Alzheimer's care, if it makes a difference. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not a fed, but when it comes to something like changes to retirement benefits, I find it hard to believe that the new deal is likely to be better than the old one. The trend in retirement benefits is decidedly NOT in the direction of becoming more generous.

I switched to the new one. It has better provisions for paying relatives that help in the home and costs less than the old version. The auto-inflation provision is less than the old which is why the cost is less. A couple of articles in Federal Times recommended that most people switch.
