Nitric Oxide??
NOT to be confused with the laughing gas!
I have heard good things about this as a supplement. I already take fish oil and CoQ-10.
Maybe Rich can comment, anyone else use this supplement or know about it??

Nitric Oxide is an important part of my armamentarium in the NICU to treat a very serious problem calle pulmonary hypertension. It was the Molecule of the Year in (I think) 1994.
I can't see how it could be a supplement, since it's a gas.

I may have been asleep in Chemistry that day, but I did remember that NO (as Meadbh pointed out) naturally occurs in a gaseous state.
Are these pills an example of Col Potter's famously described "horse hockey"?

Tthanks for posting the link FD. Here is the key information: Eleuthero Ginseng is a special form of Ginseng which works for both men and women. It rejuvenates tissues through increased Nitric Oxide production.
So I did a PubMed search on "nitric oxide synthase" and ginseng and came up with 57 refernces. Attached is the header of one of them. I can't just post entire articles on the forum for copyright reasons. Total saponin of heat-processed ginseng (TSHG) stimulated the production of nitric oxide (NO) in interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma)-primed macrophages through the increased expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS).
So, bottom line, Ginseng is not Nitric Oxide (NO), but it stimulates the body to produce it. NO has many functions and some of them may be therapeutic. Since I don't have time to read the entire literature on it, I won't express an opinion on whether it might be benefiical to the average adult, but when I have a baby who needs NO for pulmonary indications, supplementing the inhaled NO going to the lungs with a drug that helps the body make more can be an ancillary measure. In clinical practice the most common such drug that we use is......VIAGRA!!!!!
Haha's approach won't work, because inhaled NO is almost immediately inactivated in lung cells and won't reach other parts of the body.
Hope that helps. When time permits I will look into this more deeply as ginseng might be worth studying in my patient population. Thanks, FD, for helping me learn about something new!

I thought that was the mechanism of action of Viagra and similar. And part of ginseng lore is that it stimulates sexual performance.

Isn't nitric oxide a noxious (even poisinous) red gas? I think it was what came pouring out of the test tube and filled my basement when a HS buddy and I made our first attempt to brew up nitroglycerine.

NO is toxic in industrial quantities, but in medicine, the therapeutic inhaled concentration can be as little as 5 ppm.
