I have had a pain in my left arm for several months. I don't remember doing anything that would hurt it. It's on the outside of the upper part of my arm. Sometimes my shoulder hurts too. When I move my arm to put on or take off a sweater or jacket, it really hurts.

Any ideas on this one?

Hurt when you brush the hair on the back of your head?

= rotator cuff tendonitis.

But be careful here - read above for the invoice I sent to REWahoo.

Actually, it hurts when I first begin to raise my arm to brush my hair. It's only at a certain point as I'm raising my arm. The pain is in my arm, not usually my shoulder. I don't know if I should put ice or heat on it.

Rich, I'll be expecting the bill in the mail.

I'm late chiming in on this one. I had a sore elbow a few years ago from doing some kind of work, I forget what. The pain lasted for at least a month. A physical therapist called it "tennis elbow" and said she could work with me to make it better, but I had to go to my primary care doctor for a referral so the insurance would pay (gotta love the HMO's). So I went to my primary care doc, and she said before she would give me a referral, she wanted to try a less expensive treatment first, and prescribed an anti-inflammatory. I was ticked, and knew she was just blowing me off. So I took the pills as prescribed, just to prove that I needed therapy. Lo and behold, after about a week with the anti-inflammatory, the pain went away and never did come back.
