Personal Sound Amplifier
Can anyone recommend a personal sound amplifier product? This is the OTC device for those with some hearing loss, but not enough to necessitate full hearing aids. There are too many choices on Amazon for me.
I’m looking for something for TV watching so I don’t have to turn it up to 50. I tried a free iPhone app called Enhanced Ears. It helped some, but there was a lot of extraneous sounds being amplified in addition to the TV. Maybe my expectations are too high.
TIA

I think many tv’s come with blue tooth now. Check your set, maybe there’s a way to get a wireless headset that would work with your tv. Not sure if they can use both the headphones and the speaker so that you can hear through the headphones and others can hear through the TVs speakers.

A couple years back DW and I gave her DD a set of Sony rechargeable wireless headphones because his wife was going insane with the loudness of the TV.
All is well now and he loves them.
Found link for headphones.

My father used the Sony wireless headphones along with his hearing aids to help with his severe hearing loss. There’s a little volume dial on the headphone unit that works independent of the TV set speakers. He can hear clearly and the rest of the folks in the room can have a normal listening level from the TV speakers.

DW needs hearing aids (although she won't admit to it).
We tried the wireless and also bluetooth headphones and she wore them for a while then gave up. Reason being: too bulky, uncomfortable.
So now we watch TV in different rooms. I'm OK with that as I don't watch much TV.

I use TV Ears. It is a small device that plugs into the TV or cable.satellite box. The headset is wireless. We bought a set for a friend who was hard of hearing, and the expression on her face when she could hear was precious.

I have the Sony wireless headset and find it is perfect for TV watching. It is better if you are the only one watching, as you get a double sound if the volume on the TV is turned up.

These sites has some information. I do not know how reliable they are and have no experience with any of the devices:

Wirecutter evaluated some devices, though I don't always think Wirecutter meets my needs:

Thanks for all of your recommendations. Today was busy, I hope to have a little time tomorrow to look through them more thoroughly.
I did see the TV Ears advertised in a Costco email today. But it didn’t seem like such a great bargain for me - $150 for a two headphone set. I only need 1 headphone.
