Prescriptions and Early Retirement

They Know What's in Your Medicine Cabinet

Article in this weeks Business Week about how potential insurers can get information about past and present prescriptions which can lead to insurance coverage nightmares for those seeking private insurance.

If one is looking for private coverage pre-Medicare it is wise to carefully consider all prescriptions and not take anything not absolutely necessary.

Another example of how the system really needs reform.

That's a good idea even if you're not looking for private coverage.

I was somewhat worried when I applied for this very reason. I was on a cholesterol med and was worried that might be a big negative. But it seemed to work in my favor as my cholesterol numbers were in great shape as a result. At least that is what I was told from a phone interview I had with Blue Cross Blue Shield rep.

Just back from the doc to have blood work done and have my meds renewed. He pulled a surprise on me though. The old finger wave. When he finished, I asked him if it was good for him too.
