reasonable medicine

As a Canadian I remember waiting in the doctors office for hours. To get medicine that only a doctor can prescribe. I knew what I needed and had to wait for the doctor to agree.
Thank goodness times have changed. I’m living in the Dominican Republic where health care is reasonable. For example a visit to the local hospital and see the doctor is free. If you would like to see a doctor in a clinic it is about US $16 if you have no insurance. Medical insurance here for my wife and me is US$ 500 per year. Most drugs like antibiotics can be purchased at any corner store. I had my eyes checked my a Chilean Doctor here and got bifocals for US$16 I had to pay more than the other people because I was consider rich. The dentist here charges for the locals about US$ 10-15 for a filling.
As a retired worker for many years on a small pension it is quite a relief to know I can afford to have medicine.
