I open the doors and air out the house frequently, and I drink tap water. My mother lived to just short of 98 years old doing the same, so I expect I will be just fine.

It is to the financial advantage of various businesses to create fear of drinking water (for example), so that one would buy their water filtration systems. Show me relevant, independently collected life expectancy statistics and maybe I'll think about it. The human body is pretty tough and can put up with a lot.

Heck, I just like the taste of my Brita filter water. If my tapwater was killing me I'd have gotten the class action lawsuit notice by now.

I have the worst of both worlds - Cold out and a cat that will attack the plants. When I used to have plants the cats would get scared and climb the plants and break the stalks.

Thanks for pointing out the water testing. I have a well and it was sort of tested when I bought the house 20 years ago. I should find out where to test and get it done again.

I generally open the windows in the summer to avoid having to pay electricity for the air conditioner. Last summer I only ran the small one in my computer room off and on and cut my usage by 15% over the previous year.
