Unsupported Bosom
I have no ide how it effects retired or otherwise occupied women, the article claims better muscle tone fo the unsupported breasts.
Professor supports an unsupported bosom
Time to burn your bras again ladies ... because a 15-year study reckons women don't need them. "Medically, physiologically, anatomically, the breast does not benefit from being deprived of gravity. Instead, it languishes with a bra," declares sports medicine specialist Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon. Women who did not wear bras had a 7mm lift, as measured from their nipples, each year. Their breasts were also firmer, and their stretch marks faded. The researchers believed that wearing bras prevented the growth of breast tissue, which lead to deterioration of the muscles that support the breasts. If you don't wear a bra, the muscles are worked-out more, the findings suggest. (Source: CBSNews.com)

I found the original article:
French study suggests younger women should stop wearing bras - CBS News
The study looked at women age 18-35. The article clearly states that a woman age 45 who has always worn a bra should continue to do so.
I will continue to use a bra to support the girls.... Clothes fit better when my ta-tas are not sliding towards my belly button.

If I wear a tight t-shirt, it's supported. I wear bras when I go outside because there are enough weirdos out there without doing something to attract attention, the wrong kind anyway.

The Manssiere, when not regularly wearing a bro during a man's youth results in unsupported moobs later in life....
Bra-wearer here, they're real, and they're (still) spectacular.
Thank you, Seinfeld.

Mines are still spectacular if you look at them when I lay down. But other than that, it's not wearing bras, it was breastfeeding my second child that done them in, past its peak kind of thing. But she was worth it.

OMG. I just thought about warning people not to ask for photos, so got back to this thread, but it already happened.
People just never learn.

Don't do it. My eyes are still smarting from that last picture you posted.
Please, I beg of you. Don't do it.

OK, I will let it go this time. But you need to warn HFWR to be more careful.

I once read that breast feeding itself does not make them sag but the size determines whether they sag after breast feeding. That may be true since I breast fed two children for a year and they did not sag presumably because they weren't too big to begin with.

from my informal survey of family, friends and self: the bigger they are, the more they sag. with age. Breast feeding was not a factor either way. Others may know for sure, but i recall reading somewhere that bra wearing was not common until around the 1930s. If so, this story from a now 80 yr old friend who recalls inadvertently seeing her great grandmother, then age 90, in 1942, literally rolling up her sagging breasts into her camisole, puts this theory in considerable doubt. Thanks fro the amusing segue, as hitch up my bra and go off to study the readings for Church tomorrow.

True, it was not because of breastfeeding, but because it ended up stretch the breast skin to hold milk. Without the stretching, I'm sure I would be fine. I was fine with the first child because she didn't latch on to breastfeeding as well as my second child. Mine went up once size after each kid.
Some friends of mine have breast shrank after breastfeeding.
So it varies from woman to woman. My friend wanted her to get bigger because she started out small. I started out with perfect size, so it's natural it could only get worse for me.
