UPS Healthcare?

First it was Amazon, Berkshire and JPMC. Now UPS is getting into healthcare. The report https://arstechnica.com/science/2019...your-doorstep/
Quote:
UPS is crossing the threshold into healthcare, with plans for a new service that will deliver vaccine-toting nurses to customers' doorsteps.

A test for the new service is scheduled for later this year, but UPS didn’t name where it will take place or which vaccine it will offer, only saying that it would be an immunization for adults against a viral illness. Vaccine-maker Merck & Co is reportedly considering partnering with UPS on the service.
There is so much money in healthcare in the US it’s a siren call for everyone looking for new sources of revenue. Hopefully these ventures signal the approach of an inflection point in cost growth.

Hopefully, this will be more efficient for vaccines than at some pharmacies. I brought a relative to get a shingles and flu shot recently. The shots weren't available at the doc's office so was told to go to a pharmacy. When to one by relative's house. Pharmacy said they didn't have the flu shot. For the shingles vaccine, computer was down, so they couldn't tell us the price, but we could leave a number to be reached and they would call later.

I said no thanks, so decided to try a pharmacy a different day closer to me. At the pharmacy the pharmacist said "Do you really have to got shots today? He was understaffed. I said, yes today..and he said we'd have to wait about 30-45 minutes. Finally, when he was available, there was this small partitioned off area we had to go to and get vaccines administered.

This sounds more like something Amazon would come up with.
