Vivotif Typhoid Vaccine Live Oral Ty21a

I am taking this series of 4 capsules...one every other day for typhoid.
You're supposed to take each one 1 hr before a meal. I did the first 3
as directed. For the 4th one, we were supposed to go to a talk so I took
the last one before we left home, anticipating that the talk would be about an hour before food would be served. Unfortunately, the green salads were sitting on the table before the talk and I got about halfway thru the salad before remembering(this would have been about 30 min. after taking the capsule) I stopped at that point and didn't start eating until about 75 min after taking the capsule. How badly would I have compromised the effectiveness of the vaccine?

Also, just for curiosity, the insert that came in the box said to take the capsule 1 hr before eating which agrees w/ cdc instructions, I think. Yet the Walgreen instructions said it could be taken 1 hr before or 2 hrs after a meal. Are they both ok?

No way of knowing. Absorption of food depends on lots of factors.

But all things considered, what happened happened and the risk of repeating the whole course of medication may be greater than the small chance that it's efficacy was compromised. Remember, even a full course on an empty stomach is less than 100% effective.

See what your doctor says.
