Weekly Workout Check-In

Ran and walked about 20 miles this week (not including the 10 or so miles I walked at work ).

Had about 3 hours of killer weight work-outs. My butt is singing when I try to sit down!

Going to the Keys next week...Have to look decent in my new bikini

Ran 70 miles last week, with a 20 miler on thursday. Funny but at 51 I am feeling even better than my early 20s when I ran a sub 3 hour marathon. Maybe its the fact I only work part time these days under my terms.

My wife and I have just really gotten started again. We were doing pretty well a couple of years ago when we both overworked our feet, and ended up with plantar fasciitis, which took over a year to recover from. During that time, we've gotten soft, and gained waaay too much weight. (Again)

Well, feet are OK now, and we're determined to begin FIRE later this year in good shape. We started on Ash Wednesday ( Feb. 6) with a diet ( our plan is simply burn more than you eat), and walking on our treadmill that hasn't seen much use for two years. About three weeks ago, we added a used Bowflex Ultimate 2 and really got serious. My wife is doing about 4 miles every other day, and I'm up to 2. First week on the Bowflex was tough, but much better now. We're really starting to see results!

I started at 224 (5' 7") and am down to 209, she started at 151 (5' 2") and is down to 142. I'm 63, she's 59. I already feel so much better, but I know from experience it's easy to backslide, especially when your routine is interrupted. Ours will be, in late April, when we'll be going on a couple of back-to-back company sponsored trips. That'll be the test of our resolve...

The week before I went to Europe I was doing about 45-60 min cardio (run/walk, recumbent, and eliptical) and about 15-20 min weights. When I was in Europe the best I could do was sneek out here and there for a 20 min walk...the meeting rooms and sleeping rooms for megacorp mtg were all in the same relatively isolated place. I'm back home, but the gym is closed tomorrow, and I got sick on the plane coming home, so I have to take it easy for a couple more days I guess.
