[Hamlet]

Today was crazy. I used to own this stock during the tech boom. I think they're pretty conservative, and unlikely to have pulled an AIG-style anal-cranial loopback.

I think the market is panicking for no good reason here. I'm tempted to buy one of the steadiest insurers around with a 5.5%+ yield.

What do people think?

I own it like a lot of my other stocks -- I send my home and car insurance payments to them and they send them back to me in dividends. I send my utility payments to Duke Energy and they send them back to me. I put gas in the car and CVX and COP send it back to me. I buy food/sundries and KO, PEP and PG send it back to me. I buy medicine and health insurance and JNJ, LLY and ABT send it back to me.

Anyway, I own it but I wouldn't buy it right now just because there are rumblings that they will need to raise capital in which case it will dilute them at a low price. Those kind of rumors have caused a lot of insurers to tank in the last few days.
