What is going on with NM? Dropping faster than the other shipping stocks.

A Fidelity price alert took me down memory lane this morning, right as Uncle Ben was cutting us all 75 bp of slack.

Two years ago this week I was buying Eagle Bulk Shipping shares at $12-$13. I reinvested that 10% dividend all the way up and sold last July at $24.58/share. Looks like EGLE peaked last Oct around $35.

The price alert was generated because EGLE opened today at $18/share, and managed to close at $19.54. The previous day's close was $20.

Impressive volatility.

Just a heads-up: EXM is buying QMAR at a 60+% premium to yesterday's close. Watch all these names get a bid today...

Well the pumps must be working on the NM ships. I didn't have the guts to add in the $8 range but I did add some just under $10. I did add some DSX and EGLE that are now up nicely.

It's always a wild ride.

I bought a little more at $8.5, but just a little. Hope the ship stays upright.

For those who like the tanker/ship charter business, have you looked into the somewhat similar airplane leasing business? I was looking at AYR (Aircastle LTD) and thinking about buying some but ended up deciding I didn't feel like dealing with the tax headaches since it is a Bermuda PTP.

Well all the ones I've been holding, DSX, EGLE, FRO, and NM have rebounded very nicely. I'm wondering if its now time to lighten up alittle.

My thinking also... so I put a stop loss order... if it wants to keep going up, I will go up with it... but am ready to see a piece if it takes a dip...
