Pimco PTY and Reaves UTG

I've always been a Vanguard investor and when it came to income I stuck with Total Bond Index and some Wellesley. But a friend recently recommended Pimco PTY and Reaves UTG utilities fund....what do you think when compared to the offerings at vanguard?

OK, but what's your opinion of the closed end funds I mentioned ie PTY and UTG. I've always avoided closed end funds as I don't like paying commissions and expenses in the 1 to 2% range. Is PTY any "better" than Vanguard's high yield corporate bond fund?
