As a fan of the original DOOM video game, I'm just disappointed they didn't name them the Space Marines.

LOL!

If they were called spacecars then maybe the Department of Transportation could oversee the new agency. That would be fun.

Maybe not in your morning show, but they've been back for a while now!

The folks who claim to have been abducted by aliens say it wasn't proctologists....

If I was a couple of years younger, I suppose I could apply to sign on with the new Space guys! That would be fun and I could maybe end up with a government pension!

In 1968 the Canadian arm forces joined into one unit. I always thought this was a great way to save on overhead. Have not seen much on it or how it has worked out. Seems to me the USAF, Navy and Army fight enough turf battles without adding another group.

Don't be so naive... they've been here since 1947. Ask anyone in Roswell...

Honestly, I think the Navy would be the best current branch of the military to host the Space Force. They will be spaceships after all. In fact, I think the closest analog would be the US Navy Submarine Force. When you deploy on a submarine, you are in a medium hostile to life - open the door or spring a leak and you die. You are also in confined quarters for an extended period of time, often out of communication with the rest of the world, and entirely dependent on the supplies you carry with you and your own ingenuity for survival.
I suspect there is a lot of competition for space assets and development programs with a lot of overlap. There may be some good reasoning in moving it all to one organization. I think the Air Force would have a problem moving it all to the Navy.

Yesterday one of the talking heads on cable news actually interrupted one of his panel to explain that when he was referring to “aliens” he meant people from other countries, not beings from another planet. Seriously.

When I was a young boy and had to go to the post office with my mother every January to register as a resident alien, I was always disappointed because My Favorite Martian was not there.
