A word of thanks.

We recently made our first ever visit to Paris. Only two full days, so merely an introduction to the city. Unfortunately, it was in the middle of the Euro 2016 tournament, so not the best time to be there, but still quite an experience.

I had made some notes from comments members here had posted about Paris, and I can't remember who it was, but there was a recommendation from someone for a cafe near Notre Dame. We went there for lunch and were utterly blown away. Relatively inexpensive and unquestionably the best quiche Lorraine and chocolate mousse either of us have ever had.

Friendly service, a great location, and just a delightful experience. It certainly showcased so many reasons why people love that city. I only wish I could remember who mentioned it (I've searched to no avail).

That sounds sooooo good that I searched for the source too: http://www.early-retirement.org/foru...ml#post1730373

In the middle of this paragraph:

Met friends for Seine dinner cruise on Le Calife (great food, staff, wine, etc). Then did usual Paris stuff like Eiffel Tower (we did lunch in the ET, but I found this to be both overrated and irritatingly touristy), Arch, Louvre, St Chappel, Versailles ... cold and wet but still fun. Also did evening concert at Notre Dame .. way cool. Food incredible. Best food was not at the usual recommended restaurants. Incredible lunch at a little place at 6 Saint Place Michel - just a quick bite turned into two hours of gastro fun. The husbands even did an after sojourn to Jim Morrison's grave - yeah, pretty weird, but was easy and fun ...we took an iPad with Doors music and bourbon ... found out from the very angry Gendarme there are three rules at Père Lachaise Cemetery ... (1) No music, (2) No Alcohol, and (3) No sitting on the vault next to Morrison's grave ... yeah, we did all three ... AND, one is obviously not supposed to take photos of the angry gendarme under any circumstance.
I'll just copy Stephenson's itinerary in a year or so

We are there now. The food and wine are divine. Especially after more northern places.

No TV coverage of Wimbledon but lots of Tour de France and soccer.
