Airline Fee Chart
Am unsure if this should be in the "FIRE and Money" forum -- I looked for a "Scam Alert" area -- but...

I just booked a flight, and those fees look accurate. Thanks for the link!

We just flew Southwest and they still allow 2 bags free as the chart said. It wasn't a typo.

That new $15/bag fee -- is that charged to customers who purchased their tickets prior to the surcharge being added? If so, isn't that false advertising?

Yeah, a real eye-opener is to actualy read the Airline's "Customer Agreement." It subscribes to the Lewis Carrol school of contracts: "When I use a word, Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less." And, furthermore, it expands a little by adding "depending on how I feel when you ask" to the meaning. That is why there is such a push for a "Passenger's Bill of Rights." (Write your congressman.) Besides... Did they advertise "Free" baggage? |

And airlines chose to start charging for checked-in bags at a time when they have never lost so many of them according to the feds... Gotta love it!

And the Luggage Fee (or as one Airline Analyst -- no relation -- put it: "clean underwear" fee) won't be the end of it:

Yes you can bring your own food on the plane, but be warned if you are bringing it through security that the TSA will want to look at it.
Recently I was on a flight where the couple across the aisle unpacked their lunch mid-flight. One was eating some sort of garlicky sausage sandwich and the other was eating very pungent soup. Stunk up the whole plane. Seriously. They then stuck the wrappers down inside the seat back pocket and by the end of the flight everything smelled like a multi-cultural deli! Ugh.

How are we enjoying that taxpayer-provided post-9/11 airline bailout these days?
It's as if you pulled someone out of a pit of quicksand, and to repay your kindness in keeping them alive they kick you in the groin.
