I collect Hard Rock Cafe guitar pins and have about 50 from around the world and the US. I am planning a trip in October to fill in some gaps in my collection: Nashville-Pittsburgh-Cleveland-Niagara-Toronto-Detroit-Chicago-St Louis-Nashville. Think I can do it in 4 days?

Planning to drive from Independence Oregon down to pick up the gal at her Mom's place in 29 Palms a. Then a loose plan for a return trip through Prescott and Flagstaff AZ, Santa Fe NM, Durango and Silverton CO, Yellowstone WY, and then back through the northeastern corner of Oregon. Should be about a 4000 mile trip and i plan to pick her up on the 27th of this month. Am wondering if I should be concerned about snow anywhere, don't plan to be more than maybe a couple weeks on the road.

People are all different- but I would be concerned about snow. I used to ignore weather then had a really rough time once in the Rockies and now I do my long distance mountain travel only in summer.

agree with ha. but, i will say this, i would rather be in colorado on i-70 in a snowstorm than i-80 in wyoming. wyoming's snow removal is minimal at best. i've done it before, and i'll never do it again.

best thing to do during a snowstorm, pull over and let it pass. find a nice cozy room at the hojo.

Just finished a vacation through the Four Corners area, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, the Grand Canyon, & Sedona. Incredible scenery. Don't miss Antelope Slot Canyon if you go to Lake Powell.

Oh! You are missing some of the best parts. Being "snowed in" is something I look forward to... now that I have no particular place "to be." The "unexpected" is the "spice of life" you know.

Taking truck camper to Montauk Pt. in October for 5 days.
and then two weeks in Hawaii starting January 8. Florida first week in March.
I retired in May. DW is a nanny for 3 children but her employer is very flexible with her working schedule (she has a good friend who is her backup when we travel) I can work around that arrangement for 2 more years until the children are all in school. Then we are totally free!

DW and her "travel buddy" (another woman she travels with, when I don't go) were just there yesterday; they are on a two week tour of the places you mentioned.

She was trying to describe it to me, on the phone.

Thanks for the picture.

Just finished a week in Rome at the venerable Modigliani Rome (Lazio) Hotel - Reviews and Rates - TravelPod in the rooftop suite. Great time walking around the city and taking the hop on/hop off tour bus.

Now we are sharing a villa in Lucca with three friends Luccaholidayhomes, apartments, houses in Lucca, apartments, rental,Tuscany,Italy
for a week. Life is good. And also part of our budget.

About to pull the trigger on an $1100 7 night cruise from Ft Lauderdale in about a month. For me, DW and the 2 kids. The price is low enough for me to drive the 700+ miles down.

Casa Valeria - funny you should be staying there as I was watching an old episode of House Hunters International last week when I was on my treadmill and saw the very episode featuring the owner of your place in Lucca. She was a real estate investor from Newport Beach who was going to live there part of the year, makes me wonder if she can't afford to live there as much as she planned to due to the fall in California real estate values.

Based on our assessment of the value of her place, it is probably worth around $750k. Great location just inside the wall overlooking the park on top of the wall. Not a lot of mark downs on the property market here.

The property manager seems to think she never planned to be here more than a couple of months a year. And we got the only week left in September.

Just planned a 3 day/2 night 20 mile backpacking loop in the Great Smoky Mountains for early October. Taking 2 of my 3 girls. My third girl, DW, wants no part of sleeping on the ground or lack of facilities for some reason. I keep telling her it's a small sacrifice for the rewards found in the wilderness but she's not buying it.

She's just looking forward to being childless for a few days...

Actually, you hit it dead on. Due to me working at home and everyone's schedules she almost never has anytime to herself so this trip was planned partly to address that issue.

I would think these people are fools. First they don't check TA before staying in the place. Then they spend their holiday time writing comments on TA!
