Anyone got any travel planned?

If things work out I MIGHT be going to Brazil in September with my daughter and son in law. He is Brazilian, so it would be so interesting to have a native speaker handy. We've talked about going before, but their work sometimes presents unworkable obstacles, so it's never worked out. My son in law has been in Brazil for the last two weeks for his job. He has been traveling by car and has mentioned that the traffic is bad...too many cars, going too fast for the width of the highway. He was also almost run off the road in an attempted robbery. I want to go, but at the same time I'm a little leery.

Just booked two weeks skiing in Utah for mid-March (while my wife's on business trips to Beijing and Sydney, where I accompanied her last year). Utah is a long way from our home in Manila, but the skiing is soooo much better! (And I skied Hokkaido last year!)

Also have a long weekend in Hong Kong planned for March/April and short weeks (accompanying on my wife's business trips) in Tokyo and Taipei....

Ain't retirement grand!!!

Taking a trip to Florence in April/may. This is the second time DH and I will be visiting Florence. We did the museums and churches the first time. This time we will be focusing on wine and dine and golf. Already got my hotels and golf tee times booked.

Hey, Moscyn, I never thought of Florence as a golf destination. Could you provide some details on where you will be playing?

Oahu for almost a week. First day here and the weather is great. Hope it holds. Life is good. :)

Spent a month in Southern Alabama and northern Fla. got to canoe among the manatees lol. Stopped home to meet with the income tax guy and get things going. Renewed my carry permit and loaded up the travel fund for 2014. Looking to Maine in May, but will go somewhere warmer in March - possibly out West...

Love my truck camper - we can go practically anywhere anywhen ...

May start going overseas when we get too old for our current lifestyle...

Went to New Orleans for 6 days...visited the French Quarter, Zoo and Harrah's casino. This was part of my retirement celebration. Next trip in a few months.

Carnival cruises line has a solo supplement waived sale going on. I've been wanting to take a cruise with my daughter (30's), but I like my privacy. This is perfect as we can each have our own cabin. Yippee!

We were there Saturday on our way back to Kona and back home to AZ. Ms G and I loved our trip, my $55 underwater digital camera worked great. I had sea turtles in Hawaii @ Black sand beach, and Kealakekua Bay. More turtles on Maui @ Maallaea Bay, and Molokai. Whales and dolphins 24/7 and beautiful weather the entire time.

I saw the no single supplement pdf and wanted to take advantage of it, but I wouldn't go anywhere without DW, and it seemed absurd to get two cabins. Maybe get one interior thats across the hall as a daytime napping cabin, hehe!

we just booked a cruise/cycling combo

Early November from Barcelona to Lisbon. I am hoping to be recovered from the chemo by then so it will be great to get away and be outside on the bike again with Vermont Bike Tours.

I have never been to Spain and Portugal so looking forward to the sighs, sounds, and smells of somewhere new.

I am just 48 Tuesdays away from ER (with every Monday and every other Friday off). Even with this reduced schedule, don't dare take a vacation. Won't come back.

You'll be going in the wrong direction then.....the Bridge of Sighs is in Venice. ;)

Actually,in Granada, there is this place:

Puerto del Suspiro del Moro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Legend is that when the Moors were driven out of Granada, the Sultan looked back and sighed, because he didn't want to leave.

There is a Bridge of Sighs in Venice. It connects the interrogation room with the prison. It is the last view of Venice that prisoners supposedly got as they walked through it to the prison. Apparently, getting the ruling family upset at one was not a good idea. :nonono:

The Pass of the Moor's Sighs is in Spain as mentioned above.

Just had a fantastic skiing week in Colorado. Bought a new pair of expertly custom fitted ski boots, which made a world of difference in comfort and control, and got to use the new type of parabolic skis, which also make an incredible difference from the older straight skis.

I had so much fun that I'm planning to make this at least an annual experience, like I used to do.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Europe in the Fall. Plan to stay about 3 weeks. I have never been there before but she was stationed in Germany for three years back in the late 80's while in the Army so she is familiar with the area. We will probably rent a car for the whole time. I would like to see Germany, Austria, Northern Italy, & Switzerland. My sister and BIL might meet us there for a week or two.

Currently planning on a week in Hawaii, to visit relatives - then continuing on to New Zealand for seven weeks. Going to rent a campervan in Christchurch, explore the south island for a month, then move over and spend three weeks on the north island. Mostly going to hike, mountain bike and kayak. Still trying to find a cheap campervan that we can carry a couple of bikes in, though. We want to do a buy and resell deal on the bikes. We did a month in a campervan in Australia a few years back, and it was great.

Come on. We all know Sighs isn't everything.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. It was just sitting there waiting to be said.

We just got back from a weekend hiking along the southwest coast of Java near Pelabuhanratu. Beautiful clean sandy beaches, rugged rocky headlands, bright green rice fields, palm and rubber plantations, steamy jungle, and a good group of hikers with the Java Lava group. The only downer for the weekend was when a small chicken wandered about a foot in front of our dog (on leash) at the end of the day and ended up on the pointy end of the dog's teeth. Nasty scene and had to buy the chicken. Crazy thing is that the dog used to share our yard with two pet chickens for several years, and they got along famously. :(
