Everglades National Park in Feb

We snagged a campsite in Everglades National Park for 8 days in mid-February. Anyone have any experience or comments on camping, activities, must-do's, things to avoid, etc.?

Also wonder if anyone can comment on leaving the upper Midwest, heading south, pulling a camper in February? No big deal? Death wish? What are we thinking?

Edit: I asked this question buried within another thread and thanks for the two responses I got there. Just hoping it's a bit more visable as a stand alone thread.

Hopefully you are flexible on the day you leave, so you can go a day early or a day late depending upon the weather. The biggest danger is freezing rain, much worse than snow.

Also don't pet the alligators
